Rotten Charms: Where Curses find their Buyers

Design and implementation of a 3D asset pack optimised for video games.

During my Bachelor’s thesis in Game Design, I created a stylized asset pack inspired by the concept of an eccentric and curious general goods store. This dark and mysterious shop, nestled deep within a foreboding forest, beckons with its promise of forbidden and eerie wares. Delving into the creation of this environment, I focused on designing, sculpting, and texturing various assets, ensuring their performance and optimization in the Unreal Engine. The title “Rotten Charms: Where Curses find their Buyers” encapsulates the essence of this peculiar establishment, where cursed and enigmatic items seek their discerning buyers. This project not only showcases my skills developed during my studies but also invites viewers to immerse themselves in a narrative that sparks their imagination.

Inspiration and References

I incorporated AI-generated images as references, concepts, and sources of inspiration. Although these images often display inconsistent logic or incorrect perspective, these aspects take a backseat during the ideation process. Instead, it’s their unconventional nature that captivates, offering a wealth of intriguing possibilities. Their eccentricity spark new ideas and avenues of exploration. These surreal scenarios were my references for shaping the desired project atmosphere.
